Cello Lessons

J. Ben Rodriguez is a Houston based cellist, performer, teacher and composer, dedicated to helping students and audiences engage with the rich musical landscape around them. Rodriguez holds a Master of Music degree from Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he studied with Norman Fischer, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory with Dmitry Kouzov. He studied string pedagogy with Louise Zeitlin and earned his Suzuki Book 1 Teaching Certificate under Andrea Yun. He is currently faculty at Opus 1 Chamber Music School, and has held teaching positions at the American Music Academy in Houston, Oberlin Community Music School, and the Community School of the Arts at Northern Illinois University. Through private lessons, chamber coaching, sectionals and group instruction, Rodriguez has worked with students of all ages and levels. His students have participated in masterclasses with Rachel Barton Pine and the Vermeer Quartet, and have performed at Carnegie Hall.
